If you want to mount them in the original place (kidney pads under the dash),
then you're pretty much stuck with the 4" size. I have a pair of Boston
Acoustics in mine, but they are pretty feeble with the top down and cruising on
an Interstate at 65+. I have augmented them with a pair of rear shelf speakers
from Radio Shack. They are in plastic cabinets, a bass woofer and a tweeter in
each "cabinet". My radio/cassette came wired and ready for a front and back
stereo setup. The rear speakers make the whole thing audible, but the 4" pair
in the front will probably disappoint you. The kidney pads don't have much
extra material to cut off, and you also have to think about keeping the driver
magnets in the back separated as well (and they do come pretty close together
with even 4" speakers).

Subject: TR6 Speaker Size
Just got back from several Stereo Shops, ie, Circuit city ; looking for
speakers for my TR6. If I did my measuring right, the factory speaker
cutouts ( center Dash) size is 4 inch diameter. I was told by the salesman
that I should buy 5 1/4 round speakers. They look big ? My car is not with
me now, and I have no way to measure it. Opinions Please.
Thanks,
Phil Smith
