Hi Gary,
I was in the thick of that thread, and an easy way to tell which scuttle you
have is to look for 2 pockets and 3 tapped holes. The pockets clear the Dzus
wires and rivets and the tapped holes mounts the keyed adaptor plate. The
windshield is then slid over the adaptor plate and held in place with Dzus
(1/4 turn) fasteners.
In post 60K cars(or thereabouts as there is evidence of some crossover) the
pockets were removed in favor of a flush scuttle with 2 tapped holes for
bolts.
This is where it gets tricky. Some listers said that their windshield (the
same for all side screen TR's) bolted directly to the scuttle, while others
said that they recalled a keyed adaptor plate without the Dzus wires.....just
clearance holes for the chrome bolts.
My only concern is that the adaptor plates are approx. 1/4 " thk. and I'd hate
to bolt up a new windshield with that 1/2" missing.......surely it would flex
and I know I'd run the risk of cracking it.
A lister was kind enough the sell me a set of adaptor plates for a pre 60K
car........I may just do a little creative "Dremeling" when I get to that part
of my restoration.
I hope this helped.
