Stop! Rivets? Don't make holes where holes are unoriginal. Ok, I'm
under control now...
There is a better way, though not strictly original. Velcro makes a
commercial grade velcro fastener that is about 2 inches wide. Start by
finding it locally. It has tiny little hooks that are very strong, and
both sides are backed with an industrial strength adhesive. Remove the
chrome channels which hold the rubber seals on the bonnet over the side
windows. Clean the appropriate metal bonnet ares thoroughly with
methylated spirits, including the underside where the chrome strips
attach. Starting from the upper outside edge of the bonnet frame apply
the new velcro. Wrap it all the way under the bonnet frame. Use an
Exacto knife to cut out the elongated holes for the chrome channel
screws then put the channels back in place. Secure the bonnet fuzzy
velcro to the frame hooky(?) velcro and leave it for at least 24 hours.
It takes that long for the adhesive to set.
Very clean installation and it works excellent.
