I have the same situation. In addition, the British Leyland badges on
the fenders behind the front wheel openings are missing. It is my
understanding that the factory ran out toward the end of the production
run. Maybe this is the same situation. I have two holes in my left
wheel arch, but no plate and no indication (like a shadow, or difference
in paint condition) that anything was ever there. Did Triumphs just in
time inventory burn them? My car is CF57991U, and was produced in 7/76
so it was in the last batch produced.

Anyone else have any info on this?

Jack, Let me know if you find out. I have a 76 TR6 and
the plate you refer
to is missing. There are two rivet holes there
suggesting a riveted metal
                plate.

76 TR6 - What is the label that goes on the left
side wheel arch
                        opposite the distributor?

Is it the Black / Orange emission control label?

What is the label made out of? Metal - riveted
in place or is it a
                        sticker?
