I concur with jon mac that malta took a lot of triumphs & everything
else the poms tried to flog off to the rest of the unsuspecting world.
In my role as a buyer & seller of surplus Leyland stock, malta featured
quite heavily in days of old. My "surplus stock" mate in the UK still
enjoys the bulk of his business with malta, though these days its mainly
ford commercials.
Has anyone found out what happened to all the containers of parts
shipped to greece & Turkey in the mid-late 60's???. The turks built a
version of the herald & maybe other things leyland. I know a lot of the
Sth African "chichane" stuff ended up here in Australia. Compared with
Oz & UK built 2000's the Chichanes were terriblly poor in the trim
department.
A lot of early 2000 & herald stuff sent to the pacific Islands was
dumped in a bay in the Fiji Islands in the mid-70's.
