All,
I trust you all had a wonderful and safe New Year. Over the holiday,
I started rebuilding the front-end of Rags. I've blasted and painted
al pieces, have all new poly bushings/ball-joints/trunnions/tie-rod
ends/"blue" stiffer springs and Konis.
When I removed the Woodhead shocks (4 years old, appearance in as
new condition) I pumped them up and compressed them several times,
and compared their action with the Konis. The Woodheads are AWFUL!
Both Woodhead shocks bind, have copious "stiction" and IMHO a total piece
of junk compared with the smooth Konis.
I'll admit that I would expect the $250 Konis to outperform the $50
Woodheads, but I consider the Woodhead performance extremely poor.
No wonder Rags handled funny :)
I will not recommend Woodheads for anything except trailer queens!
