Ronald, After a thorough cleaning, I've painted mine with aluminum engine paint with excellent results. Painting fills or seals the porous aluminum to resist staining from grease, oil and fuel. My rear trailing arms have been painted the same way and the look is original. Oh, and a Happy New Year to you and all fellow Triumph enthusiasts! Best Wishes for a safe and prosperous 1999!!
