Hi,
Pound away!
Actually, you can get a grip on the edges right up against the wheel hub
and get those puppies off. But it is very easy to remove them in a
destructive manner by poking them with a screwdriver and prying them off.
The metal that the cup is made from is very thin.
Put in your TRF order now for new cups.
A suggestion to avoid this problem in the future:
get a 1/4 - 28 nut (fine thread, of course!) and braze it into your new
dust caps and then paint (gloss black!) and install. Next time you want to
yank the cups off, just screw in a 1/4 - 28 bolt and then grab that with
some vice-grips and yank it off - OR - by through-threading a 1/4 - 28
bolt, you can use the bolt to "push" the cap off. Works great!
Latah.
