I spent three weeks in California at a training school with a
gentleman from Cheshire. (He drank Budweiser and I drank Bass.
Go figure) When he drove he tended to run up on the shoulder
knocking bicyclist hither and yon. I chalked it up bad driving.
Last May when I was in England I hired a car and drove to his
house. When I arrived I immediatly offered an appology because
I was doing the same thing. Of course I had the bloody narrow
English roads to contend with!
After a couple of days the only problem I had was in expecting
the shift pattern to be a mirror image (shifting with the left
hand and all) and looking for the rear view mirror and seeing
the door frame!
I enjoyed the variety of it all. Can't wait to get back!

P.S. When I get back I'm going to borrow Richard's car and
put it in a ditch just to live up to the American reputation. ;-)
