Bryan,

I usually set one cup into the yoke, install the spider into that cup (to
make sure the needle bearings are still "together") and push the spider up
to help guide the second cup into place.  I use my bench vise to press the
second cup into place while making sure the needle bearings haven't slipped
by pushing the spider between the two cups.  

Let me know if it's not clear.... the downside to "listing" while working
:-)
