Message text written by INTERNET:jonmac@ndirect.co.uk >The idea behind oil in the dashpot is to stop the piston fluttering< Is it just to stop the fluttering? My understanding is that the viscosity does play a part in the degree of damping which controls the amount of enrighment. I must say that I never noticed any problem with the 10w40 I always used to use! Maybe 20W50 or 40 is even closer to the intended viscosity than 10w-40. When I lift with my finger, even the 10w40 seems to cuase a lot of resistance in the dashpot. -Tony |
