Listers,

In light of the recent thread on electically driven superchargers, I though
some of you may be amused by the following data culled from the latest issue
of Car Craft magazine (none of which is relevent to the discussion).

Fact No. 1:

"The blowers used on Fuel engines typically belt out over 40 psi of boost. At
8,000 engine rpm (about 11,000 blower rpm) it takes over 850 hp just to spin
the blower!"

Fact No. 2:

"A nitro-slurping, 500-cube Hemi engine in a Top Fuel dragster produces about
5,500hp."

Fact No. 3:

"A Funny Car or Fueler guzzles about 11 gallons of nitro per run (including
burnout, back-up, and staging). During the actual run [which lasts less than 5
seconds - dm], about 4.5 gallons are used. At about $30 per gallon, the fuel
bill alone is $330 per pass!"

WOW!
