Mike,
I doubt it's distorted rear drums that are causing the pulsing sensation
through the pedal. More likely, is a slightly distorted brake disc (rotor)
which will cause the caliper(s) to pulse and this is being fed back to the
pedal. Remember, the front brakes take 70% odd of the braking effort. Best
bet is to fit new rotors, clean out your calipers and fit new seals with
new pads. Alternatively, get a machine shop to check whether the rotors are
out of plane and the rear drums are out of round. A light skimming is
probably all they need.
