With my ususal mechanical skills I have managed to take the changing
of the driver's side front turn signal into recovering the dash, rebuilding
the temperature guage, and replacing the battery box. Next time I guess
I'll check the wires before I reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition
and turn on the lights and the turn signals. Red wires sure do burn
pretty:^) In replacing the wires, I pulled the instrument panel and since I
had never recovered the dash, it came out, too. Not much need for a heater
in Florida but since this one quit circulating water this year, it came out
and after dipping and low pressure flushing, we're back in business. The
battery box has been needing replacement for the past few years. I ordered
a replacement from Moss this week. Now for the question: How much "stuff"
inside the car or in the engine compartment needs to be removed to 1) get at
the old welds to grind? them and 2) to allow the new welding to be done.
How much heat is generated? There is a branch of the wiring harness that
passes under the battery box, etc. Hopefully, this will not become a 2 to 3
year project. Oh, well.
Thanks in advance
