This explanation makes a lot of sense. Could I ask for a clarification? Are you saying that the Amoco "white gas" of earlier times used Benzine.... but now doesn't? The other part of the Amoco "urban legend" was that the Amoco Premium available today is the same as the Amoco "white gas" of the 60's, save a lower octane rating. While I've never believed that, I will also argue that Amoco premium _appears_ (appearance, smell, etc.) to be a different gasoline than anything else on the market. (While I can't tell the difference between Exxon and Shell 93, I can always tell Amoco.) So, what makes it different _now_? Bill Elliott |
