If you rebuilt the cylinder, did you hone the surface?
And yes, storing the car does destroy the hydraulics, never looked into
why, its not because the brake fluid would destroy the rubber, I think
its more of corrosion within the cylinder and the rubber being destroyed
by moving over the rust.
