The boot is basicall there to prevent dirt entering the bore. Long term
effect of dirt is increased wear fo the rubber and the bore. You could
probably put a black zip tie on it (cable tie) Apart from that I never
had this problem other than on cylinders that needed an overhaul and in
the kit a new boot is included.
