Bob: Thanks for the vote of confidence. Finished the job tonight. Ended up packing the stud with about 7 washers and using the tire iron and lug nut to draw in the stud. Used some lock tight as an extra measure. The stud was a bit different in taper than the others but appears to have set fine. Boy, getting the hold-down pin on was a bitch! Trying to comprese the clip and then turn the pin to lock in was challenging, but persistance paid off. Thanks again for the help (as well as all those on the list that responded).
