This winter, as I disassembled my spitfire and stripped each piece of
it's old paint, I sprayed primer on some of the pieces to prevent
surface rust(everything but the hood and tub.) I used a can primer
(duplicolor filler primer-enamel), and had degreased it before I
sprayed. Is it advisable to sand that off again and hit it with the gun,
or should I do what I'd planned, and use a sealer, then paint it (with
PPG Omni)? I guess what it boils down to is whether canned primer just a
bunch of crap or is it ok as a base primer/filler for some of the
smaller pieces? It doesn't seem likely to chip since I can't really
scratch it with my finger. I'm ready to seal the whole thing, so I don't
really want to strip the pieces, but if people think the paint will fall
off in the first rain, obviously, I'd take it back off.
Thanks....j
