Amen. Looking back at my ownership of my Spit the biggest headache
has been poor quality non-original parts.
This weekend I'm doing the "Never use Australian MC repair parts in
your LBC" thingy. <no offense to our Oz listers> A rush order to TRF
for genuine Girling parts should put things right.
In the past:
A transmission layshaft only hardened to Rockwell 48 were the OEM was
58.
A 1-2 outer syncro hub that was poorly machined.
Two syncro bauk rings that were defective.
Brake shoes that were too large to fit.
An oil sender that lasted only 2000 miles.
Reproduction mirrors that just fall apart.
A large assortment of trim bits that fit poorly or wear rapidly.
Some of the items above might have been available in OEM quality if I
had bothered to dig a little. I will next time. :-)
Cheers!
