This is not uncommon (having two different mirrors). For example, mine
has two different ones. However, in my case this is because I put two
different mirrors on.

Mirrors, I believe, were a dealer installed option. The vast majority
used the same mirrors, possibly they were sourced from British Leyland.
They were bullet style with 4 inch mirrors.

Yep. Presuming that you mean the GT400 mirrors... there were/are
different bullet style mirrors. For instance, I bought a York Talbot 4
inch for my car when I first put it back on the road (1989) because that
was all that was available, and it was expensive! I recall dishing out
over $50 for it. But, it is aluminium and it does not pit like the repro
bullet style mirrors do! I have one of the repro bullet jobbies that
pitted the first year I put it on the car! Real cheap-o chrome job. If
you want to avoid having the chrome pit on these new ones, send 'em to a
chrome shop before you install them!!! A good triple plating chrome job
will last a lot longer than whatever they do for these repro jobbies.
If money is no object, I see that some of the sources have York Talbot
mirrors, but I'll bet thet are expensive.

BTW, look at the various web pages for owners of TR6's at www.vtr.org. I
just poked around there and I did not see any cars with the black
"swing-away" style mirrors on them - even though I've seen plenty of
TR6's over the years with those black mirrors... Hmmm, what's up with that?
I also think the chrome looks better. But I like the polished amuminium
of the York mirrors... oooooooo.
