Hi
First post to the list! It has been interesting lurking for the last
week. Anyway, to the point, I picked up a GT6 a couple of weeks ago after
it sat around for a dozen or so years and have been getting it road
worthy with the usual "undo the mistakes of the DPO's", etc. One of the
rotoflex couplings was split, so I ordered a couple. The Bentley manual
and also one by Kenneth Ball suggest making a hexagonal bar to support the
rear leaf spring and also mentions all sorts of pullers and thingy's that
I don't have in my toolbox.
Who's been here before? Is it necessary to have all the tools, or will
judicial hammering (which I assume will eventually become maniacal
hammering) do the trick? Can the rotoflex swap be done without removing
the whole hub assembly? Should I just plan on rebushing everthing back
there while I'm in that deep? The U-joints seem sound, but once again,
while I'm there is it prudent to swap them? I know that if it aint broke,
don't fix it, but my experience with my TR4 has led me to believe that
everything eventually goes on these old friends, and I might as well take
care of it in a controlled environment and not on the interstate.
I'm not in a hurry to get it done, I have to yank the tranny first and
send it off for therapy. It has a bad case of Tourette's syndrome,
especially in third.
Thanks!
