Before everyone starts rolling around laughing about an oil leak in a British
car I want to point out that this particular leak is not what I would think is
normal.
The leak is coming from the back of the block. It isn't the rocker cover
gasket. I've checked this and it isn't leaking at all. It appears to be
somewhere from the head gasket down to the top of the transmission.
My immediate thoughts were that it was a cracked block but there is no water in
the oil. Similarly I thought it might be a blown head gasket but No 6 cylinder
appears to be working OK.
Any thoughts from those of you who have pulled these motors out? Is there an
oil channel plug there? If I find a hole or crack what can I fill it with
pending the motor being pulled from the car?
