I have owned and used two Unisyns for over 30 years. Take your rubber
hoses and stick them where they will do some good then buy a Unisyn.
I have a single barrel model for SUs, Strombergs, etc. and I have a
four-barrel model for tuning dual four-barrel cars. The Unisyn is
especially useful for cars with triple carburetion such as Jaguars and some
GMs.
It is very accurate and completely adustable for use at any rpm above stopped.
Rubber hoses are at best a guess and depend heavily on hearing, placement
of the hose and extraneous engine noises. I have used the hose system in a
pinch but might just as well have turned screws randomly and not bothered
removing the air cleaners when I compared the results with a Unisyn.
