I used oversized shafts.  It greatly simplifies the machining required. 
Joe Curoto (sp) sells the shafts and the correct size reamer, not
cheap.  Or Apple Hydraulics will do it for you, maybe Joe does this
too.  The problem with replacing the bushes is trying to align the new
bushes, and the machining of 30 year old castings.  If you go this route
the oversized shafts can be turned to nominal outside of the carb body
so that all of your old fitments can be used. Do not forget to include
the hole for the bell crank, this is not a job for a hand held drill. 
Whatever, the use of, or the services of a machine shop are required.
