ok, that's the ticket (the first one,) appearently the car is a federal
car. i checked the commision plate and there is no "C" at the end of the
number to indicate a california model. there appearantly is no ARV.
the car was built in feb 1979 comm# FM99248U paint code 93 trim code
C74. the description helps alot, this i can follow and hopefully we
pass smog without being a "gross polluter" here we go to bribe the
government.

I had a look at the VB and TRF catalogs. They really
don't have very good (complete) pictures. I also looked
in my '78 owners handbook which has better pictures.
The commission numbers vs. pictures in the catalogs have
some errors. Basically as far as I can tell there are
two different arrangements. Those with the anti-run on
valve and those without. The anti-run on valve was used
on some early cars (75-76 my '75 had it). It was dropped
on '77 - early '79 federal cars, but stayed on Calif.
models. Federal models got it back again late '79-80.
The anti-run on valve was used in conjunction with a three
terminal oil pressure switch to control it. You might check
yours. Also there would be the wiring near the cannisters & OP switch
to control the valve. Non-anti-run-on cars have a one terminal
oil pressure switch.
If your car is like mine (Federal 77-79) the hoses are:
1 U shaped hose connecting the bottom of both cannisters
2 Top of secondary cannister (inboard) has no hoses connected to it.
3 Center port of primary cannister goes to "T" junction on PCV
hose (rocker cover to carb line)
4 Smaller ports on primary cannister are interchangeable. They
both collect vapors. One of them goes to carb float chamber,
the other goes to fuel tank vent line.
If your car is Calif. Spec. ('77-'79):
1 Center port of primary cannister as above
2 Smaller ports of primary cannister are Y'd together are go to
fuel tank vent line
3 Smaller ports of secondary Y'd together and to carb float
chamber
4 Large center port of secondary goes to bottom of primary cannister
5 Bottom port of secondary goes to anti-run-on valve then out of
valve into vacuum port on intake manifold ( I think ). Can't tell
exactly where the connection is here, but it's definately vacuum.
What did you say your commission number was? I am curious about
this possible "changeover" model car.
