I think the general consensus was to leave the darn thing alone and refill 
through the 
top cover. Another good answer was to weld or braise a "wing" or "T" to the 
plug, to get 
more leverage. I would imagine that the heat helps loosen it a bit, too....

The older Tr3 & TR2 had a cool dipstick on the top of the tranny...I guess 
these folks 
fill through that.....

No sense poundin' dirt over it... ;>)
