Well, the right rear drum is off my GT6. Thanks to Bob Wanta (and others), I
was able
to hammer it off without too much trouble, sliding the cylinder back and forth
a bit
helped to free it.
If we recall my tale of woe, I have a leaky RR brake cylinder. The advice is
to replace
it, and the other side simultaneously, along with all the pads and springs. I
plan to
do all this.
I'm wondering, though, if it's really necessary to turn the drums. Since my
pads were
perfectly good, and just dragging, there is no tangible damage to either drum
-- both
feel perfectly smooth. I'd rather not remove metal from them unnecessarily.
Can I
safely skip this part of the rear brake rebuild in this case?
Wondering, and braking for donuts, I am ..
