I may have to sign on live in order to respond properly to the suggestions!

No, but it will tell me where the camshaft should be clocked (according to
the Bentley manual) in reference to the crank. Rotating the crank 360
degrees and reattaching the chain will get the distributor rotor oriented to
spec postion which makes me feel better that there is one less thing that
makes my car unique (not a good thing when you are troubleshooting!).

Good point, but engine seems close with the marks aligned so I have to be
close. The Bentley manual states that small changes in timing (sub gear
pitch) can be made by turning the cam gear around, but I am not sure how to
make sure what is correct, but your next suggestion might make sense, just
wondering if there are any less involved indications.

Thanks for your coments
