Wouldn't this make the fan blow rather than suck?

Paul, 
No, it works just fine. Try it with a piece of paper, bend it like a two 
blade fan turn it to blow a particular direction and then turn it over 
and turn it the same way and it still blows the same way. The only 
difference is the leading edge.
