What?
In a high mileage engine[1], the rocker oil feed kit will REDUCE the oil
pressure. This means that LESS oil will be available where it is needed
most: in the main and crank bearings.
A worn rocker shaft will add to the problems, since it will consume more
oil due to increased clearances.
In addition, the engine in its original state, without valve stem seals,
is not designed to handle an increased flow of oil to the top. If the
valve guides are worn as well, you will get a significant increase in oil
consumption due to oil leaking past the inlet valves.
Conclusion: I would definitely advice against uncritically adding an
external rocker seal to a high mileage engine, especially if it doesn't
have vale stem seals installed. Do check the hot running oil pressure
before and after installation. On a fully rebuilt engine, with stem seals
and a good rocker shaft, it is a good thing.
