Ladies & Gentlemen
Congrats to the team of Andy Green for achieving the record & breaking the
sound barrier on 15/10/97
IMHO All these jets doing speed records don't mean a thing.
The REAL land speed record is held by Sir Donald Cambell who drove a
vehicle, the Bluebird
 powered by its wheels !
not just a another "plane body" with no wings & 4 wheels to comply with the
rules.
Yes I am old enough to remember meeting Cambell after his Triumph on Lake
Eyre in 1964.( even sat in the car)
Should this keep up NASA will be able to include the space shuttle for the
world land speed record not sure about the turn around time though.
