Aha!

There is a trick that makes installation a snap. (Assuming the TR6
windshield has the same type weatherstrip as the Spitfires and I think
they do).

What you do is find the chanel in the rubber weatherstrip where the
frams fits and take some Vaseline and lubricate the chanel.

Next find a heavy nylon cord (not rope) and run the cord around the
entire perimeter of the chanel, crossing the two ends at the middle
of the bottom.

Position the windshield into the opening and with the help of a friend,
who will hold the windscreen in place (putting pressure where the cord
is being pulled) carefully pull one end of the cord to pull the seal
over the frame. You must hold the other end to keep it from pulling
out.

The windscreen pulls neatly in place. Be careful that your friend
keeps even but not excessive pressure on the glass.

Note: I broke 2 VW windshields before discovering the technique.
