You *do* want a wire-wound pot -- it will last much longer than a film
pot, and I doubt you could easily find anything but a wire-wound with
the current capacity required. Also, make sure you get a linear-taper
pot, not an audio- or log-taper. Either of the latter will give you
full on and, almost immediately, full dim.
