Good day folks,
This morning my daily driver 76 TR6 passed the Texas (Harris County) emissions
test.
Here are the results for those with interest.
The particulars:
Year/Model: 1976 TR6
Fuel: Super unleaded (and I'm not using any lead additive)
Emissions control: Stock
Carbonation: Stock ZS (with stock jetting) [rebuilt three years ago,
mixture set
using the Bentley manual methods and checked with a Color Tune]
Timing: 4 degrees ATDC
Ignition: Allison-Crane electronic with vacuum retarder in place
Spark Plugs: Champion RN12YC
Replacement of air filter , plugs, and general tuning (including valve
adjustment) was done 6 months ago.
The results:
High Speed Emissions Test
Standard Current Reading Result
RPM 2510
HC (ppm) 750 10 PASS
CO (%) 7.50 1.96 PASS
CO2 (%) 13.0
O2 (%) 1.1
Dilution (%) > 6.00 14.96 PASS
Low Speed Emissions Test
Standard Current Reading Result
RPM 745
HC (ppm) 750 147 PASS
CO (%) 7.50 5.04 PASS
CO2 (%) 10.8
O2 (%) 1.5
Dilution (%) > 6.00 15.84 PASS
This was the first time the car has been emission tested, and it passed without
any special preparation. It might not be running perfectly -- but good enough.
For those in TX: all vehicles in Dallas, Tarent, Harris, and El Paso counties
that
are 24 years old or younger are required to get the emissions test as part of
the
state vehicle inspection.
Have a super day!
