Thanks for the background on the President's Cup that
was offered there in Detroit. It turns out that the
Triumph Club of the Carolina's started a "perennial"
cup with that kind of scoring system at the VTR '94
National, called "The Carolina's Cup." This award
has been presented each year since.
This award uses exactly just such a point system
(quite complicated, including all the driving
events as well as concours). The scoring involves
"participation points" so that it would be difficult
for this to be won without participating in all of
the events at the convention.
This cup is one of only four "special cups" awarded
at the VTR National. (The others are the Ken Richardson
Challenge Trophy, Dennis Riley Memorial (TR8) and the
Sweat Equity Award.)
