Metal dash to wood

Hello everyone,

All these thread about wood dashes has started me thinking about doing 
the same.  The problem is MY TR4 is of the original metal dash fame.  As 
such, I ask the group if it is possible to do a wooden dash.  
Do I just slap one on to existing metal dash or can I pull the metal dash 
off and then attach the new wood dash in the conventional method?  I 
always wanted a wooden dash and now that I need to bone up on how and if 
it can be done.
