All,
SB42 went to the California Appropriations committee
yesterday. It was placed "on suspense file", which means it will
be voted on at a later date. I guess it is too controversial
a measure (the Appropriations committee are not too happy about
all the revenue they will lose, approx $3.8million/year, and claim
that this loss will grow every year because the number of 25+ year
old cars will increase). All this on the same
day that Gov. Pete Wilson "gurantees" $1billion/year tax cuts.
Perhaps another reason is that recess is not too far away,
and these folk hate to do too much work before their holidays.
Having vented some of my disgust, this means you still
have opportunities to write to the Appropriations committee,
your favorite congressman, club lobbyists, etc.
