When I finally figured out a couple of months ago why my clutch
wouldn't disengage, it worked fine. The problem was that one of the tabs
in the pressure plate had broken off and gotten wedged insided when the
throwout bearing had gone out last year. Before I realized that the clutch
was jammed and not simply seized, I broke the reverse fulcrum pin. So I
had to take out the transmission to get this replaced. Now I can't get
the clutch to work consistently. I bled the line once shortly after the
pin was replaced. In doing so, I think I loosened the line fitting on the
slave cylinder. At first I thought I might have stripped the threads,
but I got a wrench on it and tightened it down without any trouble. I'm
sure I need to bleed the line again, since it probably got air in it. I
also realize I need to replace the pressure plate. My question is, is it
likely that the slave or master cylinder has started leaking in the time
since I last had the transmission out, or is it more likely that the
pressure plate is the culprit? As soon as I have the money, I'm going to
replace the pressure plate, but since the clutch worked fine at the end
of April, I don't see how it could have gone bad soon, or could it?
