Recently cleaned the SU H6 carb pistons on my TR-3A and found I
couldn't remove one of the needles. Interestingly, it slowly dawned on me
that I had encountered the problem before when I rebuilt them in Summer
1966. In both instances I backed out the set screws all the way and used
as much hand force as possible short of risking a bent needle. The stuck
needle feels as solid as if it were welded there. The needle from the
other piston practically fell out.
Anyone else encountered this problem or have a suggestion about what
might be going on? I'm concerned about wrecking the piston by trying to
force the needle out when I do a complete rebuild in a couple of months.
Thanks.
