Hi everyone,
I looked into my recent idle problem on my '65 TR4 and it seems that a
simple turn of the idle speed screw solved the poor idling problem. I
only turned it on the carb closest to the windshield. I did not see a
screw for the other carb. Is this normal? Does one adjusting screw
adjust both carbs?
Also, the idle would only smooth out at roughly 900 or better rpm's. Is
900 too high and could the fact that the other carb was possibly not
adjusted cause such a high idle speed necessity.
Last question for the day. I noticed some smoke from the engine where
the intake manifold gets attached to the exhaust manifold. There is a
lip on the exhaust manif. that has thru hole and provides what I believe
to be support for the intake manif and carb assy's. The smoke seems to
be coming from the screw used to clamp these two parts together.
The screw can not be tightened and just turns. It can be unscrewed and
when it is, I noticed that it is covered in an oil like substance. This
is the substance that is smoking. The intake manifold in completely
sealed so it is not gas that is leaking onto the screw.
Any help on these subjects would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance and also, thanks for the previuos help regarding the poor idling
and alternator light.
Cheers,
Alan Camhi
