I've been corresponding via email with a guy in Phoenix that has a 1981 TR7.
He replaced an engine a year ago, and now has what he describes as a "rod
knock." It hasn't gotten any worse, but he has been babying the car. It
also seems to be running poorly, which his hack mechanic said "might be flow
meter" and wanted to replace this $500 part to make sure.
I advised him to find another mechanic.
He's looking for another engine, but there probably aren't too many available
in Phoenix.
For those of you with TR7 experience, wouldn't a knocking rod get worse
quickly? Are there other things typical to a TR7 that would sound similar?
Lastly, is there anyone out there in Arizona or CA that has a long block
handy?
regards,
Sean Johnson
