Reading books may be harmful :-).
A friend of mine had read in a book (maybe Piggots, which has been
quoted a lot lately) that OD was standard on all TR6s after 73, also
that the overdrive stalk was mounted on the left side of steering
column. So when he got his '75 TR6 (non OD US-import), he broke the
indicator stalk trying hard (very hard :-) to engage the overdrive!!! At
least it tells us not to believe everything in print..
Let me also just comment on the thread on 74.5 TR6s. Being on the digest
this may be a little late, but my car has raised bumpers front and back,
overriders, amber/white indicator/parking lights below front bumper, and
"Triumph" below the rear bumper. It seems unlikely the car has undergone
any restoration.
Think that the main difference between 74.5 and 75 TR6s lies in the
engine compartment with a small detail on the dash:
'75 has no thermostatic vacuum switch (simpler vacuum retard setup and
different dashpots on the carbs), it has an air pump, and a counter
connected to the speedo cable indicating when EGR needs servicing. This
counter is also connected to a warning light on the dashboard between
the oil lamp and seatbelt warning lamp, while no '74 model has this I
believe.

TR6 '74.5 #CF27324UO <-- ending in O means OD, so you know the story
above isn't about me :-)
