I agree with you... and state only from my limited knowledge.  My '73, I
beleive is very early- like January.  The comm # is FM3812U, which seems
to correlate with your comm# info.  My engine certainly could have been a
'74 dropped in later- I've only owned it since '94.

I was always curious about the large difference between the comm & engine
numbers- and I am surprised that yours are so close too!  I attributed
some of the difference in numbers to perhaps the same engines being used
in some other project...  but don't know.  
(THIS IS WHY I'VE FORWARDED THIS MESSAGE TO THE LIST- 
I'm sure someone there will have an opinion.  Is this an understatement?)
