In Bill Piggot's book, compare the bumper on the red TR6 on page 15 with the
bumper on the blue TR6 on page 75. The two cars are shown again, both on page
77. Notice how much higher the bumper is on the early blue car than on the
later red car. There is too much difference, I believe, to be accounted for
by manufacturing tolerances. Especially as I have never seen any year other
than circa '73 with the lower bumper, and I have never seen a '73 with the
higher bumper. It seems to be too consistent to be random. The difference is
much more noticeable in person than in the pictures.
Maybe you can do a semi scientific survey at the '97 VTR convention?
