A week or two ago Greg Tobin asked:
As a side note to this thread, has anyone installed the SuperTrapp
muffler out there? They look real snazzy, and you can adjust the
volume/power on them to a certain extent.
On my DSP autocrosser, I have a 4 into 1 header, which will someday soon
be replaced with a 4-2-1 setup, a 2" pipe from the collector to about the
front diff mount, a Walker Dynomax Turbo-Tube glasspack under the diff,
then an 18" long Supertrapp after that. On the 1500, the muffler extended
just past the rear bumper. On the roundtail car that is the new autocrosser,
soon to be out on course (shooting for Memorial Day weekend) I had to chop
out about a 4" section of pipe to keep the Supertrapp from sticking out
too far.
I think that a 2" inlet is about the smallest available on the Supertrapp,
so if using the stock pipe you'd need an adapter. The Supertrapp was just
too noisy by itself, which is why the glass pack is in the system before it.
It would be quiet enough with 3 or 4 disks, but you could really tell the
exhaust system was basically strangled. Mow I run with no disks at events,
and 6 to 8 on the street. Still pretty noisy, but I don't drive the autocross
car on long trips. Maybe to the university and back once in a while.
