My findings:
I did go there... it turns out that they are located only a few blocks
from where I work and because of their location, I never saw them
before.... (small world, the web)
They were all very helpful.... and we looked at the two side by side...
some similarities, but overall, a very different look... the Rover has a
round motor casing... with no mounting points... whereas the 4A is boxy
and has mounting points... the Rover wiper motor mounts with some sort
of clamp assembly... BUT....
For those of you that don't care about being original... the price was
less than $120.00 for this new Lucas motor assembly and I believe it
could be made to work.... And because of the way it's mounted.... it
would probably be good for racers who wanted to be able to remove the
weight of the motor once they get to the track... etc....
As you'd probably just have to mount a clamp (like that of a fire
extinguisher) on some sort of home made support... to get the angle
right...
And it looks like it MIGHT work well with the 4A wipers... so it's worth
a look for the right person...
I'm not anal about keeping the car 100% original... but I do want to
maintain the value of the car... and to me... this modification would
just be over-doing it...
Thanks for the suggestion though... I highly recommend that British
Pacific for Land Rover parts and accessories... very nice shop! And
glad I found 'em.
