British car week

Listers,

At the risk of wasting bandwidth, I am going to ask for a brief rundown
of the idea of British car week. When is it, exactly? Is the whole idea
to encourage everyone to drive their cars during that week in particular
in order to create more of a presence on the roads?

There is a local British car club meeting coming up here in ten days and
I'd like to be able to fill everyone in who doesn't monitor the lists.
