Dear TR6-ers:
The last time I looked at my TR6's tach, the redline is at 5500 rpm.
Yet, for some time I have read about a 6000 rpm redline. Is it safe
to take a TR6 to 6000 rpm? Will the bearings and valves live at that
rpm for long?
An answer to these nagging questions will be much appreciated.
Regarding ball joint separation, I used a smaller (of 2 available)
fork device in combination with a large wrench to separate the upper
ball joints on my TR6. The wrench was placed behind the fork after
geting it started in the joint, giving me a wider wedge to span the
joint. A few good wraps and the joint popped apart. Wear glasses.
BTW, on an old thread, I remember driving my TR6 on several occasions
around the Atlanta beltway at high rates of speed. (Not unusual for
that road.) I recall at a certain speed the exhaust noise was silent,
and how "cool" I though that was. The speedo ususlly fluctuated
wildly between 100 and 115+ during such a thrill-seek, but I was
probably only doing 65. The tach was off doing its own dance too, a
wild mamba.
