Short summary:

I am looking for the two "studs" that are used on a late TR6 to
fasten the rear clamp on the steering column to the metal fascia.
These are not shown in the Moss or TRF catalogs, but pg 233 (vol 1)
of the TRF catalog makes reference to it between the listings for
DJ37 & DJ38: "... to studs welded to metal dash"

Due to a DPO, I need two of these...

-------

My more typical long-winded note:

Last fall, I bought a "steering anti-wobble kit" from TRF,
which essentially contains all the wearing components in the
upper steering column, to help cure the wobbles. I bought this
since my steering column has always had a fair bit of wobble
to it since I've bought it, and I assumed the various bushings
were just worn.

Well, I'm in the process of putting together a TRF order, and
was trying to make a complete list of parts for the projects I'm
undertaking this spring. I figured I'd take a look and see if
I had everything needed to fix the steering column wobble.

As soon as I stuck my head under the dash, it became immediately
apparent what the problem was, and it won't be helped at all by
my "steering anti-wobble kit!"

It seems that the of the two studs attaching the rear clamp for
the steering column to the metal fascia, one of the bolts is
shorn off, and the other was quite loose. I wonder what kind
of DPO would have shorn off that bolt and not bothered to replace
it! I figure, well, at least I can tighten the one that is loose.

As soon as I put a socket on the loose nut, it is completely
clear why it is loose (and entirely consistent with the shorn-off
bolt) -- the stud is clearly stripped, as the nut goes round and
round, in that characteristic way of a stripped bolt/nut.

So, it appears that I need two of these; I can't find them listed
in the TRF or Moss catalogs. I can probably simply replace them
with something similar (even a concours examination would never note
the difference), but was hoping somebody out there would have a
workable pair of these off a parts car...

Of course, I'll be calling TRF's tech line when it's open...
